Smart Farming: Internet of Things (IOT)-Based Sustainable Agriculture

Abstract

Project is about the sensor networks and its applications in agricultural fields. The details collected from the fields are stored in the cloud and can be monitored using IOT. Here the crop field area can be monitored without human interaction. Modern Agriculture attracts great attention nowadays.

In the context of Smart Security and Monitoring System for Agriculture, we address the challenge of integrating Internet of Things with Raspberry pi and sensors to improve the efficiency of the agriculture. The output of the project is monitoring the soil moisture, temperature & humidity of the field. In the existing method of the agriculture field all the parameter such as the soil moisture, temperatures monitoring all are done using the manual method. So the labour cost will increase and at the same time continuous monitoring can’t be done. Manual labour is mandatory in the field. In irrigation process we using the temperature sensor, humidity sensor & water level sensors.

If soil temperature is high in the field and then the pumping motor is switched on automatically by the use of relay. Humidity & temperature content is measured by the DHT22 sensor. The water level sensor is used to measure the soil moisture in the field.

The use of sensor network which collects the data from different types of sensors and then send it to main server using Raspberry pi and all these parameters can be monitored using LCD display. Using IOT all the details are stored in the cloud and can be monitored.
